Buying Time

A possible scenario, never pursued by Jack Brown

Scenario:

The Board presents to me a proposal in writing or in the form of a motion.

I do not respond, but ask for time to consider the ramifications of the proposal for TMOC, the Community and me. (Ask for two week,)

I ask if the Board would like my response in writing or would they like to meet again so that I can respond verbally.

The document is then shared with Marc who writes a letter to the Board giving

1) Brief history of his relationship with TMOC

2) (In the tone of..."In counseling with Jack dah-di-dah-di-dah

3) Gives his recommendations, warnings and what the Christian will require in terms of bringing order with special emphasis on the Board's resignation.

Jack writes a cover letter for Marc's which reads,

Dear Pastors and Christian Leaders,

Over the past year a situation has developed here at The Milwaukee Outreach Center, which I wish to make you aware of at this time. After several private meetings that I was not privy to, the Board of TMOC has asked me to step aside from being the ministry's leader and become subordinate to an as yet unnamed Executive Director.

The Board feels that they now know what is best for the direction of TMOC apart from my input. As the organization's Founder (actually Co-Founder with my friend Bob Books) I am distressed to see the Board come to their present position and do not believe that this is right in the sight of the Lord.

I have sought third party, objective counsel through my friend Dr. Marc Erickson. He shares his perspective with you in the enclosed letter. If you agree with Marc's perspective, it would be most helpful if you would join Marc in presenting a united community response to what is proposed by the TMOC Board. You may do so by signing the statement of support that is enclosed. In this way we hope to awaken the TMOC Board to the repercussions of their proposed actions and begin to see God restore unity.

I thank you for your friendship and taking a moment to read Marc's letter. If I was not able to personally visit you with this information, please feel free to call me or Marc 414-228-5220 with questions or concerns you may have.

Yours for Outreach,

Jack Brown

Executive Director

AS A COMMUNITY PASTOR (LEADER) I STAND IN AGREEMENT WITH DR. MARC ERICKSON'S APPRAISAL AND PERSPECTIVE OF THE DISUNITY THAT HAS DEVELOPED AT TMOC AND HIS STATED ESSENTIAL DIRECTIVES FOR MAINTAINING COMMUNITY CONFIDENCE IN TMOC. SHOULD THE TMOC BOARD PERSIST IN ITS CURRENT DIRECTION. I BELIEVE THE CONSEQUENCES OUTLINED BY DR. ERICKSON ARE CERTAIN AND I WILL SUPPORT THEM COMPLETLEY.
